U.S. Privacy Supplement
This Supplement adds to our Privacy Policy and forms part of it. It applies if you live in the United States. The first part applies everywhere in the country; clauses 3 to 8 set out rights that come from California law, and clause 9 explains how those rights work in other states. Clause references are to the main policy unless stated otherwise.
1. Notice at collection
This Supplement, read with clauses 2, 3, 5 and 7 of the main policy, is our notice at collection. It tells you what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and whether we sell or share it — before or at the moment we collect it.
We do not collect personal information from you that is not described here, and we do not use it for a purpose that is materially different from those described here without telling you first.
2. What we collect, and what happens to it
The table below uses the categories set out in the California Consumer Privacy Act. It describes what we have collected in the twelve months before the date at the top of this Supplement.
| CCPA category | What this means in our games | Collected | Sold or shared |
|---|---|---|---|
| A. Identifiers | Device advertising identifier (IDFA / Google Advertising ID), internal player and installation identifiers, IP address, and an email address or account identifier where you sign in or contact support | Yes | Shared |
| B. Personal information under Cal. Civ. Code §1798.80 | A username, display name and email address where you create an account. We do not collect your real name, postal address, telephone number, government identifiers or financial account numbers | Limited | No |
| C. Protected classification characteristics | Age, race, sex, religion and similar characteristics | No | No |
| D. Commercial information | Records of in-app purchases and refunds, and items and currency held in a game | Yes | No |
| E. Biometric information | — | No | No |
| F. Internet or other network activity | Gameplay events and progress, sessions, features used, crashes and performance data, ads shown and interactions with them | Yes | Shared |
| G. Geolocation data | Approximate location derived from IP address — country, sometimes region or city. Precise location only where you switch on that option on the privacy screen; it is off unless you do | Yes | Shared |
| H. Audio, electronic, visual or similar information | Text you post in a game that offers chat or player names | Only if a game offers it | No |
| I. Professional or employment information | — | No | No |
| J. Education information | — | No | No |
| K. Inferences | Advertising profiles built by our advertising partners from the identifiers and activity described above | By partners | Shared |
We collect this information from you, from your device, from the app stores, and from our advertising, measurement and fraud-prevention partners, as described in clause 2 of the main policy. We use it for the purposes described in clause 3, and we disclose it to the categories of recipients listed in clause 5. We keep it for the periods described in clause 7.
3. Sale and sharing of personal information
We do not sell your personal information for money.
We do disclose identifiers, activity data and approximate location to advertising partners so that they can select ads for you across different apps and websites. Under California law that counts as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising, and under the laws of some other states it counts as a “sale” even without payment. We describe it plainly here rather than relying on the absence of money changing hands.
You have the right to tell us to stop. Clause 6 explains how.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age. Our games are not directed at children, and we do not ask a player’s age; if we learn that a player is under 16, we stop sharing their information for advertising and delete their account on request.
4. Sensitive personal information
We do not ask for, and our games do not collect, government identifiers, financial account details, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health data, biometric data, union membership, or the contents of your mail, email or text messages.
Two things we do hold fall within the California definition, and we set them out plainly.
- Your account credentials, where you have created an account with us. We use them only to sign you in, to get you back into your account if you lose access, and to keep the account secure. California law does not give a right to limit the use of sensitive personal information that is used only for purposes like these, so there is nothing to switch off — but equally, we do not use your credentials for anything else, and we never disclose them.
- Your precise location, but only if you switch it on. Some advertising partners ask permission to use it. It is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off again at any time on the privacy screen. That control is how you limit our use of sensitive personal information under §1798.121.
5. Your California rights
If you live in California you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you, where we got it, why we collected it, who we disclosed it to, and to receive a copy covering the twelve months before your request — or a longer period, where you ask and it is not impossible or disproportionate for us to provide it.
- Delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to the exceptions in §1798.105(d).
- Correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We do not charge you a different price, give you a lower level of service, or degrade your game because you said no.
6. How to exercise your rights
6.1 Opting out of sale and sharing
There are three ways, and any one of them is enough.
- In the game. Open the settings menu, go to Privacy, and use the privacy screen. Refusing the advertising purposes there stops us sharing your information for advertising. You do not need an account and you do not need to contact us.
- On your device. Turn off tracking for the app on iOS, or reset or delete your advertising identifier on Android, as described in clause 4.4 of the main policy. This stops the identifier that makes cross-app advertising possible.
- By writing to us. Send us your player ID, which you will find in the game’s settings, and ask us to stop selling or sharing your personal information. We will apply the opt-out to that player ID and confirm when it is done. We do not ask you to create an account or verify your identity in order to opt out.
6.2 Requests to know, delete or correct
Delete your account inside the game under Settings → Privacy, which handles most deletion requests immediately.
For anything else, write to support@dozsurvival.com. Tell us which game you play and your player ID, which you will find in the game’s settings. We use that to match your request to the right records; if we cannot match a request to a player, we cannot answer it, and we will tell you so.
We confirm receipt within 10 business days and answer within 45 calendar days. We can take a further 45 days where a request is complex, and we will tell you if we need them.
6.3 Authorised agents
You can use an authorised agent. We will ask the agent for written permission signed by you, and we may ask you to confirm directly that you gave it. If the agent holds a valid power of attorney under the California Probate Code, we will not ask you separately.
7. Opt-out preference signals
Where we receive an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control through a browser, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information for that browser.
Mobile operating systems do not currently carry a general-purpose opt-out preference signal in the way browsers do. In our games, the equivalent controls are the privacy screen and the operating system settings described in clause 4.4 of the main policy, and we honour both.
8. Notices we are required to give
We do not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those disclosed in this Supplement and in the main policy without providing a new notice.
We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.
9. If you live in another state
Around twenty states now have comprehensive privacy laws, among them Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky and Rhode Island. They differ in detail, but where one of them applies to you, you generally have the right to:
- confirm whether we process your personal data and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccuracies;
- have your personal data deleted;
- obtain your data in a portable format;
- opt out of targeted advertising, of the sale of personal data, and of profiling used for decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects; and
- appeal if we refuse a request, and to complain to your state attorney general if we refuse the appeal.
Use the same routes as everyone else: the privacy screen inside the game for advertising choices, Settings → Privacy to delete your account, and support@dozsurvival.com for anything else. We do not profile players for decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.
If you live in Nevada, you can tell us not to sell your covered information for money. We do not do so in any event, but you can send the instruction to the same address.
Appeals. If we refuse a request, you can appeal by replying to our refusal within 60 days. We answer an appeal within 45 days, in writing, with our reasons, and we tell you how to complain to your state attorney general if you are still not satisfied.
